It started with a couple of National Geographic magazines.
"I like the yellow covers mummy"
Reading in the morning went to taking them in the car
then the loud call from loo
"MUM i'm going to be needing a yellow magazine in here!"

Maybe we went a little bit over board?
2008 all the way back to 1984 with a good stack of 1955 in there too.
Oh and we have doubles just to cut up for projects.
First project was on the Serengeti National Park in Africa.
Now to find a place for them....

Oh Ellie is a girl after my own heart. My husband's aunt was gave me a bunch of National Geographic a long time ago and I would take a stack and go through them during the winter.
In fact-if you go here http://hotteaandmilkchocolate.blogspot.com/2009/10/trip-down-halloween-memory-lane-part-2.html
you can see a stack in the background on the 3rd picture down.
I still have these treasures, but sadly ☻ I don't look at them like I should-I have all these wonderful blogs to read you know!
Where did you get all these wonderful National Geographics?
They are such fascinating magazines!
I bought 2 lots off ebay for $20ish each. The 1955 stack was $4 each at a local antique store.
I am in love with all the maps that come with most a lot of them. We have been planning pretend expeditions!
Oh wow, I need to get into something like this for my little ones. How wonderful that she enjoys something with so much benefit.
love this...what kind of project did you do with them on Africa?
We just cut up the pictures one magazine offered, researched on the internet, Google mapped it. Then pasted pictures onto a board and got Ellie to copy the words next to each animal.
It worked well, she remembers most of the names and can spot it on the world globe.
Pretty good for a 5 year old!
I love, love, love this idea. What fun learning can be if we only use a little imagination.
That's a lot of magazines! Looks like collage heaven....
Love it!!
I'm a big fan, myself. :)
Oh my... looks just like the stash from *under the stairs* when I was growing up. How much I love/d National Geo's!!
