Strawberries for 29 cents a punnet

The local Fruit market was giving away punnets of strawberries at 29 cents each.
We ended up bringing 14 punnets home, cut up and degreened= 3 kilos
Add 3 kilos of sugar to it and mix (with alot of effort)
The sugar breaks down the fruit after around an hour

Then add the juice of half a large lemon and heat.
(clearly dont walk away and let it boil!)

I am no jam maker but this was easy.
We got 5 jars preserved, 1 jar to be used now in the fridge and 1 for a gift.
Home made: bread, butter and strawberry jam for lunch!

You cannot get any better than homemade butter, jam, and bread.

To me-this would be the best meal ever!

Yum! Nothing beats home made jam! We had several bottles, but it seems to disappear faster than the storebought stuff? Must be time for me to get some more strawberries. Wish I could find them at 29 cents a punnet, what a bargain!

Good morning

I have been waiting for all our fruit trees to mature and give us more fruit so that i can also attempt jam making. We are at the stage now where eating off the tree is a treat. I think this year we will have more to spare. Strawberry jam has to top all the jams for me...

Have a great day.
Warm regards
