Van Gogh painting

I think this is first Sunday in a long time that the house has been perfect just to hang out in
(always messy with chores to catch up on)
We didn't go to church today as the 2 year old has conjunctivitis.
Its a shorts and singlet kind of day with the temp easily going over 30 c.
I stumbled across a blog post a while back teaching the kids Van Gogh painting.
Of course i cant recall which blog it was.
I researched as much as i could and found a nice you tube docco on him.
The kids sweated though 10 minutes of education until it was painting time. Fun!
I adore this picnic basket. The perfect size for all my acrylic paints.

Ellie wasn't too interested in following instructions which is fine, as long as she is creating.
I think she will do well with aboriginal painting which we shall try some time soon.

Ryan didn't look too well, he really has issues with drinking water the poor boy.
Its going to be a long summer for him.
He had to have a number of breaks (he isn't really all that into doing educational things with his family....
That's what school is for to him)
I encouraged and coaxed him back to the table with cordial and crackers and he did more, bit by bit.
In the end he managed to escape without me following
but i sneaked out later to find him on the trampoline sketching a dragon fly that was visiting our garden.

Sarah got straight to work, wanting to copy Van Gogh's Starry night.
Ellie's master piece is called Disco mantakala
Sarah's is 13 bright lights
and Ryan's is Sprinkler in the wind.

I love them all and so will those who knock on our front door.

Hi Melissa. Thank you so much for commenting on my thrifting post. I find it funny that you've been eyeing the same plate at your local thrift store, halfway across the world! I assume it is the sunflower plate? I love it--it is made in New Zealand. You are going to love Handmade Home when you get it. It has such a sweet tone to it and Amanda's projects and photos are just so beautiful.

I love the idea of having the kids paint on canvas-makes it a more permanent, you know?

I think you have budding artists in the works. Great job!☺
